Armed Security Guard Training Course

$125, plus a Cashier’s Check of $25 made out to State of Nevada P.I.L.B.

NOTE: Students attending must bring a properly completed State of Nevada Private Investigators Licensing Board “Verification of Employment for Armed Security” Form (Revision 10/2014) or provisional paper, their driver’s license, and their valid Nevada Registration Work Card issued by PILB (not Clark County) that states “Unarmed.” Students MUST present these documents to the instructor at the beginning of class or they will not be allowed to participate in the course of training.

6-Month Requalification

​Initial / 5-yr Renewal / 6-Month Requalification Course of Fire for Qualifications A B-27 Target will be used with a 30 second time limit at each stage listed below.

Always wait for the instructor to give commands prior to touching, loading, chambering, holstering or firing your handgun.


Qualification - Preload Magazines 3-Magazines: Load (2) magazines with (5) rounds each, load (1) magazine with (10) rounds, place the (2) five round magazines in the magazine pouch, and place the (10) round magazine in you support side pocket. With target on the (3 Yard Line) you will point the weapon down range in a safe direction, load your firearm with the (10) round magazine and chamber a live round. Remembering to keep your finger alongside the frame of the firearm and holster it.     NOTE: PILB Students MUST qualify with 30 rounds for each caliber they wish to carry.

The course of fire must require firing at least 30 rounds of live ammunition with a passing score of 75 percent, and must include drawing and:

1. Shooting 5 rounds of ammunition from a distance of 3 yards in 15 seconds using only the dominant hand; a. Then transferring the firearm to the support hand and shooting 5 rounds of ammunition from a distance of 3 yards in 15 seconds using only the support hand;
2. Shooting 5 rounds of ammunition while standing, reloading the firearm and shooting 5 rounds of ammunition while kneeling, from a distance of 7 yards in 30 seconds; and
3. Shooting 5 rounds of ammunition while standing, reloading the firearm and shooting 5 rounds of ammunition while kneeling, from a distance of 15 yards in 30 seconds, on a full-size B27-type target. The scoring areas on the target are the “X” in the center of the target, which receives a score of 10, and also the 10, 9, 8 and 7 rings. Any hits outside of such areas do not receive a score.
